Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar
Parkside Elementary’s partnership with the Applebee’s on University Drive in Coral Springs provides our students with an opportunity to share their artwork and writing projects with the community. Each month a variety of art and writings are displayed for Applebee’s patrons to enjoy.
Approximately three times during the school year Applebee’s hosts a Parkside Day at their Coral Springs restaurant. On those days, a percentage of the receipts paid by Parkside families is donated to the school to support school improvement activities.
Center for Leadership in School Reform
Since it’s opening, Parkside Elementary has maintained a partnership of support with the Center for Leadership in School Reform. Parkside Elementary’s philosophy incorporates the Working on the Work (WOW) philosophy promoted by the CLSR.
Under the leadership of Dr. Phil Schlechty, the Center for Leadership in School Reform has the following mission:
The mission of CLSR is to be a dependable and responsive source of strategic consultation, technical assistance, training, and support to school district leadership and is aimed at:
- Enhancing the capacity of the district to support and sustain reform at the building and classroom levels.
- Redesigning schools so that they are more clearly focused on providing quality work for children and so that students become the true focus of all decisions made in schools.
- Helping teachers, parents, and others who work in schools and classrooms to better understand the characteristics of quality work for students, and ensuring that teachers have the tools and support they need to design and deliver the highest-quality work for students.
Coral Springs Medical Center
With it’s close proximity to the school, Parkside Elementary has enjoyed a successful partnership with the Coral Springs Medical Center since the school opened.
Among the activities are the yearly Teddy Bear Parade. Around the holiday season, Parkside’s students and staff collect teddy bears to donate to the police and fire departments in the area. The teddy bears are used by the police and firemen to help comfort young children during times of distress in emergencies. Students and staff members parade down to the medical center at the culmination of the collection period to deliver the bears.
Other activities include decorating hospital windows at the holiday time by students in the Art Club and assistance from the hospital with providing our staff members with first aide and CPR training.
Wendy’s
Although not an active partnership in terms of regular activities, Wendy’s continues to provide certificates of recognition to our Students of the Month and those students who achieve honor roll each marking period. Students are able to redeem the certificates for food items at the local Wendys’ restaurant.
