These "Digital Doorways" allow Teachers, Students, Administrators and Parents
of Broward County Schools to access current and relevant resources and information
focused on student achievement, academic performance and instructional best practice.
At the beginning of the school year, students take a brief reading assessment
to determine their "lexile level." The lexile level guides students to books
that are appropriate for their reading level.
Part of the Scholastic Reading Counts program provides students with points
earned as a result of taking brief assessments after reading a book.
Many times parents and students want to know if a book is a "Reading Counts" book-
meaning, is there an assessment available for a specific book that will enable him / her
to take an assessment and earn points after reading the book.
By clicking on the Scholastic Reading Counts icon below, a new page will open in your web browser.
Although this page is intended to provide teachers with the opportunity to purchase Reading Counts materials,
we offer it as a convenient way for students and parents to check and see
(using the "Quick Find" search box at the top) if a test is available for a specific book.
Parkside currently has access to approximately 85% of the assessments for the available books.

Connect to Parkside's Media Center where you can search the school's collection from home.
